Type of Psychotherapists : the requirements

This posting is for those who want to be a psychoterapist. Do you know who they really are? Do you know what requirements they need to be professional?  I want to share with you about information of the type of Psychotherapists. This is going to be helpful for your goal in the future.

 

to be a psychologist

 

 

1. Psychoterapist is a person who does psychoterapy. They may have anything from no degree to an advanced professional degree; the term is unregulated.

 

2. Clinical psychologist has a Ph.D., an Ed.D., or Psy.D.

 

3. Psychoanalyst has specific training in psychoanalysis after an advanced degree (usually, but not always, an M.D., or Ph.D.)

 

4. Licensed clinical social worker (which called LCSW as well)  / Counselors with various specialities (family, children, women etc..) are generally has at least an M.A. in psychology or social work.
