Thesis in Psychology : What research method will be better ?

Have you decided where to go? What is the topic of your thesis? What methods would you like to prefer? If you don't know what methods exsist for the research, I am sure that you need to study about them. There are various research methods in psychology which is probably hard to implement but nessasary for advanced studies. They have advantages and disadvantages as well. 

 

Choose one better method for you

 

1. Advantages of case study is it has good source of hypotheses. And it provides in-deth information on individuals. 

Disadvantages are in this study, vital information may be misssing, and making the case hard to interpret. as we can expect, the individual may not be representative.

 

2. Advantages of Laboratory observation are it allows more control than naturalistic observation and allows use of sophisticated equipment as well.

Disadvantages of this method are it allows researcher only limited control of the situation and also behavior may differ behavior in the natural environment.

 

3. Advantage of Test method is it yields informations on personality traits, abilities etc.

Disadvantages of this method is it is difficult to construct test that are reliable and valid.

 

4. As for survey, advantage of this is it provides a large amount of information on large number s of people.

Disadvantage is that if sample is nonrepresentative or biased, it may be impossible to generalize from the results.

 

5. Advantage of correlational study is it shows whether two or more variabes are related.

Disadvantage is it doesn't permit identification of cause and effect.

 

6. Naturalistic observation. The advantage is that it allows description of behavior as it occurs in the natural environment.

Disdvantage is it doesn't allow firm conclusions about cause and effect.

 

7. Advantage of Experiment is it permits resercher to identify casue and effect. 

Disadvantage is the situation if artificial and results may not generalize well to the real world. 

 

 

In that case you are writing thesis or doing reserch, you need to make sure what method would be better for your work.  There are no such a perfect method but have many advantages.

Please don't overlook the disadvantage of each method but use well.
